If you’ve been a homeowner long enough, you’ve probably encountered a malfunctioning toilet. These problems are annoying and can mess up your daily routine. There are three common toilet problems you’re likely to experience, but they are easily diagnosable.
Toilet won’t flush – this is usually a clog in the drain. But if the toilet flush function isn’t working, this might be a problem with that system. You can look in the tank to see if the handle, level, lift arm, chain or flapper valve need attention.
Water around the toilet – you may have a loose connection to the toilet or there could be a crack in the toilet. Mop up the water immediately to prevent damage to your floor.
Running toilet – the flapper could be leaking or the fill valve may be disconnecting and not responding to the float arm. If you turn off the water supply and the water drops below the flapper, you may have bigger problems.
